One Poem
by Emily Adams-Aucoin
The Iridescent Net
Our daughter is the she
about which
we are always speaking—
who we’re constantly
referring to,
even and especially
when we’re not referring to
anything. Her name
is a great, unending
conversation
about what it means for us
to be alive:
how stuck we are,
both alive and together,
and how wonderful it is
to be kept in this way.
